AMAZING AMAZING dancers

After world wind experience, we arrived back in Cape Town a month ago. 4 different countries, 9 flights, so many stop overs and the best time ever. We attended the 13th Los Angeles salsa congress and undoubtly came back with more. Not so much so that we can call ourselves international dancers or teachers but enough that makes a differences and that's what counts!
We have met AMAZING AMAZING dancers who can do the most extrordinary things. Honestly, I never knew your body could move like that but it is hot! There woman out there that put JLo to shame, men out there - so average! ;p Dancers out there who dance from their heart, they have passion, they have it going through their veins. They are unstoppable. A dance floor filled with more than a 1000 people just dancing - dancing to salsa - incredible. I didn't speak to as many people as I danced with - because after all dance is a form of communication.
We've had lessons for the past two weeks and we are slowly building up again.
I can't wait to hit the dance floor - I can't wait!

The picture I have included is of Mo and I dancing at my best friends wedding...a moment to savour. You can do it too!

I (heart) NYC - BIG TIME

I didn’t realize how much of a city girl I am
Until I stepped back into New York city and felt so so comfortable. I love this place. We are in the most amazing apartment ever (www.flipkey.com). We are less than 2 minutes away from the subway. I love  it here. A job, my friends, Starskle & foxinator and I would be good as sold to New York City!
Dinner in Little Italy was awesome so was the random Chineese massage Mo got persuaded into – awesome until the man started massaging my but TOCKS – weirdo. What a great evening!!
We’ve done so much but best of all it’s a week in the city that never sleeps. Due to jet lag we don’t sleep either!!!

City of Angeles

Wilfredo the Cuban Stud and dancer
Albert Torres is his name. The creater, producer and organizer of the world’s most presitigous salsa congresseses. I have been fortunate enough to attend the 13th Los Angeles Salsa Congress. OMG! What an experience – when can I do it again? A day in the life of the congress 1030am -330am daily for 4 days straight. We started off at the Mayan – I danced with a Mexican and some great great people and as always there are the dumb asses who don’t know floor craft* and the oh so common ‘let me see who is watching’** man’s lead.

I attended some great great classes. Par from the dancing the performances were incredible!!! Check out my new list of FAVOURITE LA SALSA 2011 dancers.
We popped into Universal Studios, checked out a few signs – looked at the sign. I even drove on the wrong side of the road and liteally got a headache then I sat CRIB side all the way.

Thy obsession with Escalades continues….

* floor craft can be understood as a man’s ability to lead a woman on the dance floor and ensure that she does not hit any no one hits her.

** ‘let me see who is watching’ can be understood as a man who does not give a damn about the woman he is dancing with all he cares about is who he can impress and who is watching – Damn fool.

I’ll take you to the barber shop…. (sung to 50c Candy Shop)

Is sung even a word? I’ve just logged on to see I now have 5 followers WHAT FUN! Yesterday we did loads. LOADS but I think the best part was Lucky’s Barber Shop (Clay Street, OAKLAND!). So we walked into the Marriot Hotel and asked for Information. The lady was soooo helpful. None the less what she said was, “A barber? Sure we can help you with that. You can go to Lucky’s down the road. It’s owned by some brothers.” Ahhhhh. Well then we were in the barber shop and some random Divorce Court (trash TV) was on…and one of the brother’s looks at the TV and says, “Ooooooooooooooh, it’s cause you’re nasty”. That just happened. I loved it! Trolley rides, ferry rides, some epic street dancers and then the GAME! AT & T Park – what awesomeness. Garlic fries yum & beer gross. So much of good times. Tomorrow we are off to Los Angeles and then hit the Salsa Congress….thas right

SMUG

San Fransisco – SMUG is how she described it and well rightly so! It’s a quaint and beautiful place. On the first day we walked around the local city (although a town to us). Grabbed some Starbucks yum – not quite the Cape Grace. Day 2 was fabulous Glen, Paul and Louisa showed us the Golden Gate Bridge, the worlds windyiest road, the Trolleys, Coit Tower, the waterfront area and so much of fun. OAKLAND! We had Mexican for lunch it is a petty that only an hour later I remembered what Bridget said , “everything is bigger here” – my lunch was larger than Mo’s! he he he. What a fun day
YEAH!
Today we are off to Alcatraz.
OAKLAND!

Rover Rd?

Right, so it felt like 1996 (i hope that is my standard 5 year). Glen came to fetch us and Bridgie was in the car. De ja vu... then we walked into the Lounge of Walnut Creek and all that was missing was Deborah-lynne some two minute noodles and barbeque spice!
And that’s the start of our great trip!
